On some
days, we have a tiring day at work (don’t we all?) and what we look forward to
is a well – made shisha and some good food. Recently, we discovered a classic
Arabic café in the middle of the city. Café Grand Joud has been around for a
while, but was recently relocated behind the Center mall. As soon as we entered
the café, we took in the aroma of the delicious meat kebabs and shisha. Were we
going to fall for this place already? Not to get too excited too soon, we
entered with careful doses of apprehension and excitement. This place sure gets
points for the aromas it gives out; you can’t help but be intrigued.
Located
in the heart of the city, Café Grand Joud is a shisha lover’s delight. A lot of factors take center stage for a
shisha lover; but smooth, well flavored shisha and good food is what we are
primarily looking for. It is a tedious task to find both of them in one place
in this city. Luckily, Café Grand Joud has the three golden ticks; great shisha, delicious food and good service.
The
mouthwatering kebabs deserve special mention. The shish taouk is cooked to
perfection. Another must order is the filling plate of hot potatoes. Accompanied with Khubz, the
dish has a lemon-y twist to it. Going for some casual fun time with your girlfriends?
Doha Diaries suggests ordering the lip smacking chicken wings, the scrumptious
falafel plate which comes with a tahini sauce and a rose mint shisha to go with
it all. For the health junkies, DD would highly recommend the fresh fruit
juices, lemon-mint and carrot being our personal favourites. The ambience of
the place is well lit with comfortable seating. It is also adequately
ventilated ensuring that you don’t feel too stuffy inside.
Only
complaint? We truly wish it had an outdoor section so that one could enjoy the
gorgeous breeze (before sultry summer begins) along with the food and shisha
this café provides. But till then, the foodie in us is satisfied!
